For many people, hearing the word "prophet" immediately brings to mind someone who simply tells what will happen in the future. While this is certaily an aspect of prophecy, I would suggest to you that there is actually a better understanding of what it means for someone to be a prophet. To be a prophet of God is to serve as His mouthpiece for Him in delivering His divine perspective on what is currently taking place or what will take place in the future. This is important to know because our congregations Daily Bible Reading for this year takes us through the Prophets of the Old Testament, and understanding these truths along with other truths in this lesson will help us to be benefitted to the greatest degree.
