Though not a huge section of the book, the second and third chapters of Revelation are a key portion of the purpose behind why Jesus instructed John to write down was told to him and what he saw in the visions he received on the island of Patmos. The fifth of these seven messages was addressed to the church of Sardis. This lesson looks at the dead church of Sardis and the scathing message that Jesus delivers to this church concerning their rock-bottom spiritual state. He also offers a few words of encouragement to the seemingly very few within Sardis who had not yet defiled their spiritual clothes.
