Though there was great success concerning the expansion of the church within the first century, that success wasn't experienced without difficulties along the way. Many of those difficulties came in the form of persecutions. The persecutions that first appeared within Jerusalem had spread to the far reaches of the Roman empire as far as the kingdom itself had spread. There were many disciples who were struggling to overcome the tribulations they were facing, and we find the Apostle Peter seeking to be a source of encouragment by writing a letter that was meant to strengthen the brethren who were being "refined by fire." This lesson looks at three areas of encouragement that can be found within the letter of First Peter.
