There were many pivotal moments in the story of Israel as God's chosen people within the Old Testament. One of the most pivotal moments, though, is found in I Samuel 8. Since the choosing of Israel, God had ruled the nation as their King. He had led them through many trials, failure, and triumphs, but by I Samuel 8 the people have decided to reject God as their King.
