Why doesn't preaching always achieve the desired result?

In God's perfect design for His Church, He instituted positions of service and leadership that are designed to help the members of the Body grow to be more like Jesus in all that they do. We know that God's design is perfect, yet...not every member of the Lord's Church is steadily becoming more like Jesus. If there is not a problem with God's design, then where is the shortcoming? What happens between the mouth of the preacher and the ears of the hearer? This lesson considers these questions and strives to find out why preaching doesn't always bring about the desired result of the hearer becoming more like Jesus.
